Free Love is a term that belongs in the 1960s social movements and it is part of the broader social and cultural changes associated with the sexual revolution, which aimed to transform societal attitudes towards sexuality and personal freedom. It challenges and rejects traditional societal norms surrounding sex. Free love is closely associated with the countercultural movements of the 1960s, including the hippie movement, which promoted a big social change, peace, and personal liberation. An example of someone I have read about who has struggled with this concept of "Free Love", is Anita Loos. She was an author and I was surprised when I found out she wrote "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" where Marilyn Monroe is in the cast. Which is a great movie by the way. However, Loos supported women's autonomy and sexual freedom. Her paintings frequently portrayed women as independent, sexually liberated people, and challenged gender norms. Political groups attacked her, considering her views weird and immoral. She also fought an internal conflict between her personal beliefs and the expectations that society had of her as a woman in her era. Anita Loos' life and work had a lasting influence on the sexual revolution despite all of its difficulties. Her influence encouraged a lot of women to question their beliefs about relationships and sexuality, which benefited the larger movement for gender equality and sexual liberation. The life story of Anita Loos demonstrates the social and personal obstacles that women who supported unrestricted love had to overcome in the 1960s, as well as the advancements that were accomplished.
