Yoli’s experiences made her learn more and more about how her family works. Between these situations, her confrontation with Octavio to defend her sister, who had recently lost her child, without the prior knowledge of the family. The double standards and hypocrisy could be seen in the air during our times, but it was hard to stand up against someone back then, especially if it was a woman standing up against a man.
Before this confrontation, I felt someone else might've brought up her fight with Octavio, which I’ll tackle, but she talked with Rita beforehand. Rita mentioned how the world is a Man’s World, and they are only seen as trophies for them. These arguments heated Yoli into how she saw that Rita was only what can be described as a “whore”. She takes advantage of many men and manipulates them easily.
Of course, this is not a view for women in general. This was only one person who had a bad example. Yoli was standing up to her brother, who viewed women sleeping with people as whores while men are more of a praise to have slept with so many people. The topic is seen as repeated lyrics such as a reminder or more of a call out and exposing her brother in front of her sister, who then proceeded to stand up for herself and women in general.
